Your musical New Year’s Resolution starts NOW.  Deadlines are 2nd, 3rd and 6th.  Come on, you’ve got a tune to learn.

Your next opening is Monday, 2 January 2017 over at the Nursery Inn in Hopps Street, Hartlepool for the Pools Folk and Acoustic Music Club.  Remember there’s drum practice prior to the folk club meeting so you can do both if you want from 7.00-ish or from about 8.30-ish if you just want to do folk.  They’re open each Monday and always welcoming.  Their room is self-contained and there’s real ale on draught.

Over at the Foggy Furze Folk Club, meeting in the Causeway in Stranton, Hartlepool, each Tuesday from 8.00 pm we welcome all visitors, whether they want to sing, play or just enjoy the evening and support the singers and players.  We’re a small, enthusiastic club with musicians of varying skill on a variety of instruments and we make an interesting noise.  It’s always improved by more voices and our next meeting is Tuesday, 3 January 2017.  Their room is also self-contained and there are several draught ales on tap (can you see a theme here?).

From Friday, 6 January 2017, the Headland Folk Club begin their new pattern of first and third Friday of the month to make things easier for folks to calculate when the next club night is.  They meet over at the Duke of Clarence in Church Walk, Hartlepool, on the Headland.  They have a lovely club room, self-contained, with beer on in the bar.

It has to be said that folk clubs usually only seem to flourish where there is proper good beer in the pipes.  It’s a folk thing.
