So how did you get on with that instrument you got last Christmas?  Still in the box?  Have you learned those first few chords?  Why not give it an airing at one of your local folk clubs and feel proud of yourself for having achieved something this year.

There are at least three venues in Hartlepool for you to visit and show off your new-found skills:-  The Foggy Furze Folk Club, Pools Folk and Acoustic Music Club and the Headland Folk Club.

The Headland Folk Club meets fortnightly on a Friday and is open tonight at the Duke of Cleveland on Church Walk, Headland, Hartlepool.  This club is run by Paul O’Neill and starts at 8.00 pm.

Pools Folk and Acoustic Music Club meets each Monday in the Nursery Inn, Hopps Street, Hartlepool from 8.00 pm till close and is hosted by Yorkie Gibson.

The Foggy Furze Folk Club meets in the Causeway Inn on Stranton, Hartlepool, each Tuesday at 8.00 pm and the writer, Kay De ‘Ath is your welcomer.  The next guest at the Foggy Furze Folk Club will be Rebekah Findlay and Friends on 13 December 2016.

Rebekah and her friends are established performers, having been to all of the local clubs at some point, and she did perform at the Folk Festival back in October.  She plays violin and guitar (though not at the same time).

Each of the clubs accept £1 entry which usually goes towards either special nights of interest (such as a Christmas buffet) or paying for a guest performer through the year.  Why not come and join in the fun?  Every Tuesday from 8.00, the Causeway Inn, only £1 for a regular singaround night and rarely more than £2 on a guest night.  Contact me on Kay@foggyfurzefolk.com or read this blog again on www.foggyfurzefolk.com.

I hope you all enjoyed the Hartlepool Folk Festival and are now looking about for venues and singers to keep your ears in the manner to which they’re now accustomed.

To whet your appetite, the Headland Folk Club have a visitor this evening called Jim Sharp.  My musical afficianado advises he is absolutely excellent and can be relied on for some wonderful entertainment so get yourself along this evening  to the Duke of Cleveland in Church Walk on the headland where Paul O’Neill will be pleased to greet you and host the evening.

Over by Hart Lane, Pools Folk and Acoustic Music Club will be having their regular Monday session in the Nursery Inn, Hopps Street, Hartlepool.  It’s a convivial club with plenty to offer so why not get yourself along and join in with Yorkie Gibson.  You’re welcome.

And in the Causeway in Stranton, our little club, the Foggy Furze Folk Club meets each Tuesday, usually for a singaround but with the occasional guest evening.  We start at 8.00 pm and finish around 11 and it’s only £1 on a singaround evening.  You’ll always be made welcome.

You’re welcome in any of the clubs, whether it’s just to listen or play or sing.  It’s only £1 per evening for a singaround and £2 for a guest night at the FFFC.  You can contact me on kay@foggyfurzefolk.com or read this article again on www.foggyfurzefolk.com.
