Are you ready for the weekend? Yay, no work Monday.

Why not celebrate the Bank Holiday by learning a new tune on your dusty old guitar and bring it to one of the local folk clubs?

There’s lots to choose from during the week. Over at the Nursery each Monday there’s a drumming session followed by Pools Folk & Acoustic club. That’s in Hopps Street, Hartlepool and run by Yorkie.

Then the Foggy Furze Folk Club meets every Tuesday Kay De ‘Ath hosts the evening in the Causeway, Stranton, Hartlepool. A welcoming club with lots of friendly faces, unplugged music and some good craic.

Over on the Headland, the next meeting of the Headland Folk Club is on Friday, 8 May 2015 and will be hosted by Paul O’Neill.

At the FFFC on Tuesday, 12 May 2015, we’ll be playing host to Dave Gibb, an experienced singer songwriter from the borders of Scotland. Dave has visited before and we know his songs are funny, tragic, tell a story and are excellent all round entertainment. Well worth your £2, so get yourself along.

Want to keep up on the situation locally? Please get in touch with me on kay@foggyfurzefolk.com or get onto www.foggyfurzefolk.com. Come along to any of the local clubs, you’re assured of a welcome. We’re very friendly. Only £1 most weeks.

Thanks for letting me know there was a big bad blog problem Jimmy, I have had to renew the whole thing. The history is somewhere in my back pages and I will address the problem some time in the future. Its took me an age to do this as it is. So we begin again. I hope you enjoy the blog. Kay Is running the club in her expert and very able style. It meets at the Causeway every Tuesday night. I hope you enjoy the blob and all who read it find there way to the Causeway and support one Hartlepools most famous folk clubs.

Well hello again, are you enjoying the spring?

Next guest over at the Foggy Furze Folk Club is Dave Gibb, an old friend, with his left hand guitar and loads of great songs. Dave visits us on Tuesday, 12 May 2015 from 8.00 pm and we think it’s £2 well spent to get in. We know you’ll enjoy it.

Don’t forget the FFFC are there every week at the Causeway, in Stranton, Hartlepool, gathering for their favourite songs, some good craic and the occasional guest night and it’s only £1 for a regular singaround night. There’s good cask ale to be had.

Over at the Nursery in Hopps Street, Hartlepool, it’s Mondays as usual with the drum club from 7.00, followed by the Pools Folk and Acoustic Club from about 8.30 till close of play.

And on the headland, the Fishermans’ Arms in Southgate will play host to the Headland Folk Club, this time on Friday, 24 April 2015.

Things are ticking over nicely in the three clubs but there’ll be movement towards the end of summer when the local bands will be polishing up their acts looking forward to the Hartlepool Folk Festival, to be held in October. Much more news on that closer to the time.

Remember that new instrument you got for Christmas? Why not take it for an outing to one of the local clubs? There’s always room for a new performer. If you just want to listen, we’ll move along the bench so you can join in with us. You’ll be welcome whichever you choose.
