What a cracking festive season and we’re only halfway through it.

The Foggy Furze Folk Club, held at the Causeway Inn, in Stranton, Hartlepool, had their Christmas party this Tuesday and we had a great time listening to Cliff Healey.  Regular readers will understand that Cliff wasn’t scheduled to entertain us but he stepped up to the mark for us when Peter and Beth Aveyard were unable to attend.  Herculean effort, Cliff, thanks so much.  The FFFC will not be open on 30 December but 23 December 2014 and 6 January 2015, Kay shall be there to greet you for a great singaround.

Over at the Nursery Inn, Blind Stag will be playing for the Pools Folk and Acoustic Music Club at their Christmas party on Monday, 22 December 2014.  Tickets available from Yorkie or from behind the bar in the pub.  A good mix of traditional and popular music, with Suzie Day singing, you can’t afford to miss it.  And I’m told there’ll be mechanical bug racing, which is great fun.

The Headland Folk Club, which meets at the Fishermans’ Arms, Southgate on the headland, their next Friday session is on 9 January 2015, with the regular Sunday session recommencing on 18 January 2015. their regular Sunday session, this Sunday, 7 December 2014.  Both of these sessions will be hosted by Paul O’Neill.

Did you enjoy the Foggies’ Christmas party night?  Why not tell me about it www.foggyfurzefolk,com or, alternatively, on kay@foggyfurzefolk.com.  Over at the FFFC it’s £1 on a singaround night and £2 for a guest night.  Go on, get yourself along, the holidays are here.

Well it’s all going on over the next three weeks or so.

Chronologically speaking we begin with Devotchka playing at the Nursery Inn, Hopps Street, Hartlepool, on Thursday, 11 December 2014, supported by local band, the Mad Hatters.  Devotchka are a duo who play a wide range of songs, some blues, some modern, some jazz, all very ably and with great presence.

On 16 December 2014, the Foggy Furze Folk Club is playing host to Peter and Beth Aveyard, a father/daughter combo, who play some of their own stuff and some traditional folk songs.  He’s an able guitarist and she has a vocal talent of such style she takes your breath away.  Definitely worth your £2 for a ticket.  This is down at the Causeway which is situated in Stranton, Hartlepool, TS24 7QT.

Then we’re back to the Nursery Inn when Blind Stag will be playing for the Pools Folk and Acoustic Music Club at their Christmas party.  Tickets available from Yorkie or from behind the bar in the pub.

And ongoing solidly behind all of this is the Headland Folk Club, next session at the Fishermans’ Arms, Southgate on the headland, their next session is on 12 December 2014 and is billed as the last one of the year.

Also at the Fish is their regular Sunday session, this Sunday, 7 December 2014.  Both of these sessions will be hosted by Paul O’Neill.
