There are lots of folk festivals on around the country all summer and one which is local-ish will be going on at Bedale beginning tonight, 30 May 2014.

Over at the headland, the local folk club is on tonight at the Pot House, where Barrie Archer will welcome one and all.

Monday sees the Pools Folk and Acoustic Club’s regular weekly meeting at the Nursery in Hopps Street, Hartlepool.  As with any of the other clubs, it is open for players over 18 and of any ability.  Yorkie will be there to greet you.

Each Tuesday the Foggy Furze Folk Club meet but, for a change, it will not be at the Athenaeum Club in Church Street, Hartlepool for technical reasons (i.e., the Athenaeum is closed for alterations ).  We hope to meet at the Nursery Inn on 3 and 10 June once confirmed with the landlord.

We recognise that there are other venues with acoustic sessions in the area, for instance the Fisherman’s Arms over at Southgate on the Headland so keep reading, we’ll do our best to keep you up-to-date.

Want to keep up on the situation locally?  Please get in touch with me on kay@foggyfurzefolk.com or get onto www.foggyfurzefolk.com.  Come along to any of the local clubs, you’re assured of a welcome.  We’re very friendly.

Now we’ve got our collective breath back after the hugely successful Hartlepool Folk Festival weekend, we can keep you up to date with what’s going on locally around and about.

At the Foggy Furze Folk Club, held at the Athenaeum Club in Church Street, Hartlepool, each Tuesday at 8.00 pm, we shall be playing host to a one-off performance of three ladies who are all known locally as solo performers.  There’s our very good friend, Maggie Gee, who delivers with verve and gusto, there’s Miriam Backhouse, the floaty, feminine lady of folk and there’s Marie Little who sings songs with passion and enormous humour and have you laughing and crying all in the same evening.  This is a one-off performance, they won’t be performing in this combination anywhere else and we’re really pleased to be playing host to this unique event.  Ticket price reflects the quality of the performers and it’s £5 per person and they are selling well now.  This will be on Tuesday, 20 May 2014, get your tickets now.

The Headland Folk Club is open to visitors tonight, Friday, 2 May 2014, over at the Pot House where Barrie Archer will be pleased to welcome you.

And don’t forget the Nursery Inn at Hopps Street, Hartlepool, hosts the Pools Folk and Acoustic Club each Monday evening, even on bank holidays, for your weekly folkie fix.

You can keep up with what’s happening at the FFFC on www.foggyfurzefolk.com or get in touch on kay.death@yahoo.co.uk .  Remember it’s only charge £1 entry on a singaround night, or usually £2 for a guest night.  You’ll be welcome.
