kays article and weekly news

What a few weeks we’ve been having.  Loads of gigs for the local bands, Skyran and The Band With No Name (TBWNN), both of whom are performing this weekend again, Skyran tonight at the Traveller’s Rest in Evenwood and TBWNN at the McOrville in Elwick so very local.

Tonight you can get yourselves across to catch the tail end of a week-long Cider-fest being held at the Fisherman’s Arms.  Steve and Mandy have had music on all week, including Mimi and Glenn and feature Fat Bob on Saturday, 15th.

Over at the Athanaeum Club in Church Street, Hartlepool, the Foggy Furze Folk Club had had the pleasure of listening this last week to that South African songbird, Miriam Backhouse, who entertained with a complete performance of many English traditional and self-penned tunes.  She’s just a wonderful all round performer and singer.  Amazing lady.  So much energy.

The next band to perform at the FFFC will be Fiddlyn Man Doris, a local 4-piece band with some stonking tunes.  Good rhythms behind an excellent fiddle and some very good guitar.  Get yourself along for a cracking evening’s entertainment.

So, don’t forget, over at the FFFC, we’re happy to welcome you any Tuesday for only a pound, unless there’s a guest, when it’s £2.  You can keep up with what’s happening or get in touch on www.foggyfurzefolk.com or get in touch on kay.death@yahoo.co.uk .  It’ll be good to see you there.
