Martin nesbit

We mourn the passing of Martin Nesbitt. Martin was a regular guest over the years and often visited the club for sing arounds. His personal charm out standing wit and twinkling eyes and musical talent will be sorely missed. Martin was our guest just last month and although we knew he was ill you would never of guessed it as he delivered a wonderful performance and had us rolling in the isles with laughter at some of his unbeatable comedy songs. He could also write serious songs and with his easy folk style would get any point across when he had something to say. Martin will be missed terribly by all who knew him in the Teeside and Hartlepool folk scene  Rest In peace.

Over at The Foggy Furze Folk Club, held at the Athanaeum Club in Church Street each week, we’ve been wonderfully entertained by Dave Gibb, our Scottish friend, this Tuesday with his own songs and his own slant on life.  So funny.

Our next guest is to be Miriam Backhouse Erasmus who hasn’t been to see us for a couple of years.  Mim delivers wonderfully acted out songs and delivers stories with panache.

Lots of small preparations going on these two weeks for events being held over the bank holiday.  The band with no name are playing up in Elwick, Skyran have a couple of gigs lined up later that week, Monday, 27 May 2013 at the Causeway and Thursday, 30 May 2013 at the Historic Quay.  Everybody’s busy and we’re all learning.

There are regular acoustic evenings held by the Pools Folk and Acoustic Club at the Nursery Inn in Hopps Street, Hartlepool each Monday, and the next Headland Folk Club evening should be Friday, 24 May 2013.  There’ll be someone to greet you and make you welcome.

So, if you want a folkie fix there’s plenty going on.  Over at the FFFC, we’re happy to welcome you any Tuesday for only a pound, unless there’s a guest, when it’s £2.  You can keep up with what’s happening or get in touch on www.foggyfurzefolk.com or get in touch on kay.death@yahoo.co.uk.  It’ll be good to see you there.
