Article, Friday, 24 August 2012, Foggy Furze Folk Club

Considering that it’s the middle of the holiday season, we’re enjoying an excellent attendance over at the Foggy Furze Folk Club , held in the Atheneum Club in Church Street, Hartlepool, each Tuesday evening at 8.00 pm.  We had several folks attending various festivals (Whitby finishes tomorrow, Saturday, 25th August) and we still had an excellent attendance.

Next week we have Foolsgold Acoustic attending to promote their special CD raising funds for Help for Heroes.  This is an official H4H product and so far Steve and Carol Robson of Foolsgold have raised over £1,000.  They’re making a sterling effort so we hope you can be there to help them this Tuesday, 28 August 2012.

Our next guest is Andy Broderick who is an Irish singer/songwriter playing modern traditional Irish music.  He’s here on 12 September 2012 and it’s only £2 so don’t forget to join in with us.

Pools Folk and Acoustic Club is going great guns over at the Nursery Inn on a Monday evening, beginning 8.30-ish so get in early to get a seat.

The Headland Folk Club is enjoying the summer again next Friday, 31 August 2012 so get yourself over there.

The local folk clubs all have reasonable entry fees, some £1, some free.  At the FFFC we only charge £1 for a singaround night and £2 for a guest night.  This is some of the best entertainment at a barely there price.  Enjoy it.  You can keep up with this on www.foggyfurzefolk.com or speak with me on kay@foggyfurzefolk.co.uk.  You’ll be made welcome at any of the local clubs so why not go along.

Over at the Foggy Furze Folk Club, we’re having some great singing and excellent participation, so much so that it can only be attributed to either holiday season or Olympic gold fever…………..On Tuesday, 28 August 2012 the FFFC plays host to Foolsgold Acoustic who are promoting their official Help for Heroes CD, Beat the Drum.  As you will have seen in Tuesday’s paper this week, Foolsgold’s members, Carol and Steve Robson, have written the songs on the CD especially with thought of service personnel  in mind.  They are making no profit from the CD’s, all funds raised go directly to Help for Heroes and when I last looked, they had raised almost £1,000 with these CD’s………………Our next guest will be Andy Broderick on Tuesday, 11 September 2012 and he shall be delivering a blend of new and old Irish songs in his own gentle, inimitable style.

One point to note is that the Headland Folk Club night has changed Fridays.  It no longer runs parallel with the evening this article appears in the Hartlepool Mail, it is on the alternate Friday, so your next meeting at the Pot House will be Friday, 17 August 2012.

Though we’re midway through the school holidays, don’t forget your local clubs are running throughout the summer, ready to entertain for a very small outlay.  Over at the FFFC, it’s still only £1 each singaround or £2 on a guest night.  Pop in for a friendly welcome or get in touch on www.foggyfurzefolk.com or say hello to me on kay@foggyfurzefolk.co .uk.
