Spring has sprung and we’re all singing jolly songs about Whitsun and dancing to distract us from the dismal weather.
Last Tuesday over at the Foggy Furze Folk Club, held in the Atheneum in Church Street, Hartlepool, we had Phil Drane as our guest for the month. What a treat. He started with nimble fingers doing some ragtime and finished with one of the most beautiful farewell songs I’ve ever heard. So lovely. And all the bits in between were polished and beautifully presented. So many good songs and over the whole gamut of genres. It was an excellent night’s entertainment.
Our next guest is Rebekah Findlay on 12 June and her new album is already selling like hotcakes so get yourself there and check her out yourself. She’s absolutely excellent.
On Tuesday, 29 May 2012, Carol Southwell is going to give us a master class in how to deliver good folk songs.
Don’t forget Barrie over at the Pot House tonight, he’s there waiting to greet you at the Headland Folk Club.
Little bird tells me Jeff Butterfield, that stalwart of the Hartlepudlian music scene, has just done a Danish tour so he’s getting himself out and about there.
Don’t forget to catch up with our goings on at www.foggyfurzefolk.com or speak to me on email@example.com. It’s only £1 on a singaround night or £2 for a guest night. You’re always welcome – if you can find a seat.
