We had a smashing sing around and a wonderful set of songs by The Linnets for there hot spot. The lasses were really on form as they started with All through the night and had everyone joining in. They have now added musical instruments to there set and Kay and Christine playing guitar and bodhran made  the overall sound excellent. well done girls, keep on keepin on.

group, The Lynnotts, when they perform their 15-minute spotlight.  I’m sure they’ve been practising so why not pop along and see them.

The dull late autumn weather is definitely affecting turnout for the local folk clubs, though not the enthusiasm of those who make it to the venue.

Last Tuesday the Foggy Furze Folk Club played host to a double-header event.  First up were Jiva with their regular style and excellent professionalism.  It has to be said the second band were not as error-free but they certainly had most of the audience joining in with the songs they knew, which is always encouraging.

Next Tuesday, 23 November 2010, there is a new line-up of that local harmony smaller gathering but the calibre of the performers was still excellent with new people being drawn in and the regulars bringing new songs to the table.  The next night will be Friday, 26 November 2010.

All the feedback from the Seaton Club last Sunday has been positive, with people coming from as far away as Saltburn and Bedale.  A jolly good time was had by all, we’ll be kept advised of their next gathering.

Don’t forget your local folk clubs will always welcome visitors.  At the FFFC, down in the Travellers Rest on Stockton Road in Hartlepool, it’s only £1 for a singaround evening with £2 on a guest night.  No price rises here.  Get in touch on www.foggyfurzefolk.com or by kay@foggyfurzefolk.com if you have something to tell us.

THis week it was dual guest night week featuring Jiva and On the Edge. the weather was horrendous so we did not have a big turn out but those who were there had a lovely evening. Jimmy and Val were in very good form as they sang through an excellent first spot followed by Paul Ian and Kay doing some special arrangements of very well known folk songs. WELL DONE GUYS, The night was a great success.

The xmas party tickets are now on sale so contact Jean, Ian, Kay or Jan to get yours, the theme is punk and its sure to be a great night.
